What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Guide Updated: August 30, 2025

Deleting your SkiveCore account is permanent. This page explains what is removed, what may remain temporarily, and important effects on end‑to‑end encrypted (E2EE) chats.

Immediate Effects

  • Access disabled: You can no longer sign in to the deleted account.
  • Sign‑out everywhere: Active sessions on web and mobile are invalidated.
  • Irreversible: Deletion can’t be undone and content can’t be recovered later.

Content Removal

  • Profile: Your profile, name, avatar, and account metadata are removed.
  • Your content: Posts, blogs, videos, and other items you own are removed where applicable.
  • Comments/replies: Depending on context, these are removed or may appear as from a deleted account.

Note: Some public references (e.g., quotes or embeds made by others) may persist if they are part of other users’ content.

Private Messages (E2EE)

  • We can’t read private chats: Direct messages are protected by end‑to‑end encryption. See E2EE explained.
  • Key rotation: Account deletion and related key changes mean your prior private messages are not accessible to us and may become unreadable to others depending on their device state.
  • Copies on recipients’ devices: Deleting your account does not remove messages that already reside on someone else’s device.

Backups, Logs, and Caches

  • Backups: Your data may continue to exist in encrypted backups for a limited retention period and is then purged by routine processes.
  • Operational logs: Minimal, non‑content logs (e.g., timestamps, IPs) may be retained for a time for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. See How Your Data Is Protected.
  • Third‑party caches: Search engines or external caches may keep snapshots we do not control; request removal from those services if needed.

Username and Identity

Once deleted, the account and its handle are not recoverable. The same username may not be available again in the future.

Before You Delete

  • Understand that deletion is permanent and removes your content.
  • If you need only to secure access, consider enabling 2FA (Push + TOTP) instead.

How to Request Deletion (Early Access)

Self‑service deletion is coming soon. For now, request manual deletion here:
