Suspicious Activity

Guide Updated: August 30, 2025

Notice something off with your account, devices, or messages? Use this guide to lock things down quickly, spot common scams, and report issues the right way.

Immediate Actions

  • Deny unexpected login prompts: If you receive a push login approval or 2FA request you didn’t start, do not approve it.
  • Change your password now: If you can sign in, change it from your profile’s Security tab. If you can’t, use Forgot Password to reset.
  • Note on privacy: Resetting your password rotates your encryption keys. Old private E2EE chats will become unreadable. See E2EE explained.

Secure Your Account

  • Enable 2FA: Add authenticator codes and push approvals. Start here: Enabling 2FA and Secure Login Methods.
  • Revoke unknown sessions: Visit your profile’s Security tab (/yourusername/security) and revoke devices you don’t recognize.
  • Secure your email: Change your email account password and enable its 2FA. Your email protects login resets.
  • Device hygiene: Update your OS and browser, uninstall suspicious extensions, and run a reputable malware scan.

Signs Of Suspicious Activity

  • Login approvals or 2FA prompts you didn’t initiate.
  • Password reset emails you didn’t request.
  • Messages or posts sent from your account that you didn’t create.
  • Unrecognized devices in your Active Sessions.
  • Links asking for your password or 6‑digit codes.

Phishing & Social Engineering

  • Check the domain: Only trust links on skivecore.com. We do not ask for your password or 6‑digit codes over email/chat.
  • Do not approve unknown pushes: Never approve a login you didn’t start yourself.
  • Be careful with files and links: Avoid opening unknown attachments or downloading untrusted apps/extensions.

Reporting Issues

  • Public content (blogs, comments, videos, posts): Use the Report button on the item with a clear reason. See Reporting Harmful Content.
  • Private chats (E2EE): We can’t read or moderate direct messages. Mute/Block the user. If illegal activity is involved, export evidence and contact local authorities.
  • Security findings: If you suspect a vulnerability, follow our Security page for responsible disclosure and PGP.

Contact Support

Email support@skivecore.com and include:

  • What happened and when (timestamps/timezone).
  • What you saw (screenshots if safe to share; never include passwords or full 2FA codes).
  • Your current status (can you sign in? did you change your password? enable 2FA?).

Not an emergency service: If someone is in immediate danger, contact local authorities first.
