Delete Your Account

If you are logged in, you can delete your account yourself:
- Click your profile picture.
- Select Settings & Privacy.
- Scroll to the bottom to Account Controls.
- Click Delete Account and confirm.
Irreversible
This is an irreversible decision. Once completed, your account and personal data cannot be recovered.
What Happens After You Start
- Immediate sign‑out everywhere: You’ll be logged out on all devices.
- 72‑hour pending period: Your account enters a pending deletion state for 72 hours.
- Cancel within 72 hours: If you sign back in during the pending window, the deletion request is automatically canceled.
- Final deletion: After 72 hours, your account, keys, and personal data are deleted or anonymized as described below.
What We Delete or Anonymize
We remove sessions and relationships, and scrub or anonymize personally identifiable information (PII). Some posts are anonymized/hidden, but all PII is removed. In particular:
- All active sessions are deleted (sign‑out everywhere).
- Blocks and friend relationships are removed.
- Your posts are marked deleted and hidden from the site.
- Your profile is anonymized: name becomes “Deleted User”, username becomes
deleted_{ID}
. - PII is cleared: email, phone, address, social links, avatars/covers, and bio.
- Encryption material and 2FA are removed/disabled (public/private keys, 2FA secret).
- Privacy defaults are set to the most restrictive (“Only Me”).
- The account is blocked from further use.
Direct messages are end‑to‑end encrypted and are not accessible to us. For details, see E2EE explained.
