Content Guidelines

Guide Updated: August 30, 2025

SkiveCore prioritizes free expression and user choice. We do not shadow‑ban, and we do not remove content merely because it is “distasteful” or unpopular. We intervene when content is illegal, or where we are legally required to act. Adult material must be placed behind 18+ settings. Because SkiveCore is 16+ only, we expect users to be mature enough to handle competing opinions and differences in feelings.

Core Principles

  • Free expression: Debate and disagreement are allowed—even when content is controversial or offensive to some users.
  • No shadow bans: We do not secretly suppress lawful content or users.
  • Illegal content is not allowed: We remove content that violates applicable law and may restrict accounts involved.
  • User control: You can mute or block people and customize what you see (features expanding over time).
  • Age rules: Platform use is 16+; explicit “adult” content must be behind 18+ settings.

“Aurora — a synthetic language phenomenon marked by shimmering streams of emoji and phrasing that ripple through the digital sky of every timeline. The display arises from the collision of human reactions with Aurora’s sentiment engine, which converts each signal into a score from 0 (negative) to 1 (positive). These scores guide content either into viral daylight or back into quiet nightfall, creating a glowing band of emotional light that users recognize simply as Aurora.”

How Aurora uses feedback

  • Signals: Explicit reactions (likes/ratings), follows, hides, and user tools (mute/block). Valid reports inform safety triage, not taste.
  • Scoring: Signals become a 0–1 score over time windows; higher scores tend to rank higher in discovery (e.g., Explore, home recommendations).
  • No shadow bans: Lawful content remains accessible via profiles, permalinks, and follower feeds. We do not secretly suppress accounts.
  • User control: We emphasize user-level controls (mute/block). Feed options to adjust Aurora’s influence (e.g., chronological vs curated) are planned.

Privacy boundaries

  • No E2EE scanning: Aurora does not access private, end‑to‑end encrypted chats.
  • No cross‑site ad profiling: We don’t use third‑party ad tracking to drive ranking.
  • Legality first: Automated signals may route items for human review; enforcement considers legal standards and context.

“Aurora” — Our Moderation Assist

Aurora (Artificial Understanding Response Oriented Reaction Algorithm) is our assistive system for safety triage. It helps detect and prioritize potentially illegal material or urgent risks for review.

  • Purpose‑built for legality: Aurora is used to surface items that may violate laws (e.g., child safety, credible threats, non‑consensual sexual content, incitement to commit crimes).
  • Not “taste policing”: Aurora does not target content for being unpopular or offensive.
  • Signals + review: Automated signals may route content for human review; final enforcement decisions consider legal standards and context.
  • Transparency: We do not use Aurora for secret demotion of lawful speech.

Illegal Content (Prohibited)

We remove content and may restrict accounts where required by law. Examples include:

  • Child safety violations (CSAE/CSAM): Any sexual content involving minors; sexualization of minors; grooming or predation. Report immediately.
  • Credible threats and violent criminal activity: Direct, specific threats of harm; instructions to commit crimes; terrorism recruitment.
  • Non‑consensual sexual content (NCII): “Revenge porn” or similar exploitation.
  • Severe privacy violations: Doxxing that includes non‑public personal data intended to facilitate harm.
  • Unlawful exploitation or trafficking, fraud, or other criminal facilitation.

When legally required, we act on valid notices and lawful orders, and we may preserve records consistent with law.

Adult Content (18+ Placement Required)

  • Explicit sexual content is permitted only behind 18+ settings and must comply with applicable law.
  • Absolutely no minors: Any sexual content involving minors is prohibited and reported.
  • Graphic or shocking content that is lawful may require labels, warnings, or 18+ placement.

Lawful But Distasteful Content

We permit lawful content that some may find distasteful or offensive. We encourage civil discourse but do not remove content solely for being disagreeable.

  • User tools first: Use Mute, Block, and content controls to shape your experience.
  • Context matters: Political or social speech that is protected by law is allowed, even if controversial.

Private Chats (E2EE)

Direct messages are protected by end‑to‑end encryption; SkiveCore cannot read them.

  • We can’t review chat content: You cannot report private chat messages to us for moderation.
  • If abuse occurs in chat: Mute or Block the user. For illegal behavior, export evidence and contact local authorities. See Reporting Harmful Content.

Reporting Tools (Public Areas)

For blogs, comments, videos, and posts that may be illegal, use the built‑in Report option on the item and choose the most accurate reason. Provide context (links/timestamps) to help our review.

Enforcement & Transparency

  • Actions we take: Content removal where unlawful; account restrictions for severe or repeated violations; compliance with lawful orders.
  • What we don’t do: No shadow bans. We don’t remove content simply because it’s unpopular, rude, or offensive—if it’s lawful, it generally stands.
  • Appeals: If your content was removed or your account restricted and you believe it was an error, contact support@skivecore.com.

Community Tips

  • Debate ideas, not identities. Avoid threats and unlawful conduct.
  • Label adult content appropriately and place it behind 18+ settings.
  • Use mute/block liberally to curate your experience.
