Secure Login Methods (Push Auth, TOTP)

Guide Updated: August 30, 2025

Add an extra layer of protection to your SkiveCore account. After entering your password, you can approve the login from your phone (push approval) or enter a 6‑digit code from an authenticator app (TOTP).

Options at a Glance

  • Push Approval: Approve a login from a notification on your phone. Requires the SkiveCore mobile app and notifications enabled.
  • Authenticator Code (TOTP): Enter a time‑based 6‑digit code from an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.

You can use push approval when available, or fall back to your authenticator code on the same screen.

Push Approval (With the App)

Requirements:

  • Install the SkiveCore Android app and sign in. See Downloading the App.
  • Enable notifications for SkiveCore on your device.
  • Keep your phone online to receive the prompt.

How it works:

  • After you enter your password on the website, we send a login approval to your phone.
  • Tap Approve on the notification to confirm it was you.
  • Your browser detects the approval automatically and logs you in.

No push? You can always enter your 6‑digit authenticator code instead.

Authenticator Codes (TOTP)

Enable 2FA:

  • Open your profile and go to the Security tab (URL looks like /yourusername/security).
  • Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, Duo, etc.).
  • Enter the current 6‑digit code to verify and enable 2FA.

Login with a code:

  • After entering your password, type the 6‑digit code from your authenticator.
  • Codes refresh about every 30 seconds. Use the newest code if one changes mid‑entry.

Troubleshooting

  • Didn’t get a push? Make sure the Android app is installed, you’re signed in, notifications are allowed, and your phone has internet access. You can still log in using your 6‑digit authenticator code.
  • Code not working? Ensure your phone’s date/time are set automatically, and try the latest code. If issues persist, re‑scan the QR from your profile’s Security tab.
  • Lost your 2FA device? See Can’t Access My Account or contact support.
